I. Background
China is a major consumer and producer of clothing. With rapid economic development, international market integration, rising living standards, and government policy support, the apparel industry continues to grow steadily.
However, industry-specific characteristics—seasonal and regional differences, market volatility, and product diversity—combined with imperfect management systems and fierce competition, bring significant challenges. The combination of styles, colors, and sizes causes the number of individual items to grow geometrically. The sales system covers direct sales, wholesale, and franchising, with numerous geographically dispersed retail stores generating large amounts of scattered data.
Traditional manual data collection methods for sales, logistics, inventory, and allocation are no longer feasible. Issues such as ordering chaos, inconsistency between store and inventory data, difficult and low-accuracy warehouse counting, slow goods turnover, and financial pressure constrain enterprise development.
With wireless technology advances, companies are increasingly focusing on WLAN-based solutions. As a leading IoT company, FineJoin has studied enterprise needs and combined barcode technology to launch a comprehensive apparel barcode application solution, improving computer management and enhancing management levels.
Developing chain operations improves management mechanisms, efficiency, and competitiveness. Chain operations have become widespread in coastal and major cities, common in retail, catering, and service industries, and have expanded to automotive, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, home building materials, and gas stations. This solution analyzes the challenges of chain stores and provides practical solutions using equipment operations.
II. System Architecture
1 Information Management of Garment System
Shanghai FineJoin Smart Technology Co., Ltd. uses advanced technology and modern information construction to build an information management model from factory warehouse to chain stores.
2 Powerful Back-end Data Processing Software
Real-time acquisition of store sales data, querying out-of-stock and slow-moving products and ordering requirements, enabling real-time revision of production plans and rapid cross-store transfer of slow-moving products.
3 Powerful Handheld Inspection System
III. Solution Operation
1. Sales Management
The solution equips stores with a computer system using barcodes for sales, introducing automated data collection at the source to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Staff can scan product barcodes for sales or select different colors on the terminal interface to report sales data in real time.
2. Order Management
Stores use handheld terminals to input ordering/replenishment information in real time. The system automatically generates orders and submits applications via wireless network. Warehouse personnel receive and ship goods; stores scan barcodes to confirm receipt. Terminals can also query inventory in real time and provide automatic replenishment reminders. Employees can enter purchase orders on-site for the purchasing department. Barcode scanning during receipt ensures fast and accurate inbound.
3. Receipt Confirmation
Through the barcode system, the handheld terminal scans or verifies the delivery note number to confirm the product type received, automatically matching with the order. Accurate recording of arrival and order execution, data uploaded, backend automatically updates store inventory. Order execution accuracy reaches over 99%, ensuring accurate product inventory.
4. Warehouse Management
The barcode warehouse management solution manages brand, category, color, style, and size information via barcodes. After production, garments are scanned into warehouse at designated locations, shortening outbound time, improving accuracy, and reducing extra transportation costs from shipping errors. Terminals can aggregate customer returns and store return data and send to headquarters.
Problems solved by FineJoin Mobile Data Collection Solution:
Value brought by the solution:
Specific operations:
#### Inbound Operations
#### Outbound Operations (picking, packing, shipping)
Operators face challenges such as large-scale searching, data registration/modification, verification after picking, location adjustment, and goods tracking. The terminal needs to query inventory status and location of outbound items in real time, update warehouse database, record shipment list, and track order shipment.
#### Transfer Operations
Administrators managing many storage locations need terminals to automatically receive transfer instructions and routes, verify and modify data, ensuring accurate and orderly operations.
#### Counting Operations
Counting is a headache—counting tens of thousands of items across multiple departments in one day. The terminal automatically scans goods information, checks with original database in real time, and automatically enters accurate data.
4.1 Daily Settlement
Employees can perform daily settlement to view the day's inbound, outbound, and inventory status. Print daily settlement report showing sales quantity/amount, pickup, receipt, returns, gift inventory, and product inventory.
4.2 Store Inventory Count
The solution introduces barcode handheld terminals. After automatically scanning and recording inventory data, it imports into the backend database via specific software, automatically generates profit/loss data and prints statistical tables, greatly improving inventory efficiency. Wireless POS terminals can also query inventory of this store or other stores (with headquarters authorization), enabling real-time global visibility.
4.3 Gifts/Promotional Items
The backend system sets gift and promotional policies and sends them to the terminal. Based on the customer's purchase amount, the terminal prompts whether to give corresponding items. The system supports multiple payment methods: "cash, card swipe, voucher, stored-value card, membership card, gift, prepayment," etc.
4.4 Membership Management
When a member makes a purchase, the store employee logs in with an ID, enters the consumption item number and amount on the handheld terminal, and then swipes the card to deduct. The POS records member personal information, consumption time and amount, and prints receipts for the customer and store. All information is transmitted in real time via GPRS to the headquarters management center backend server database. (Employees can use the handheld POS for mobile payments, improving efficiency and showing customer prestige. When not in use, the device can be placed in a communication cradle for charging.)
For data upload/download, GPRS uploads data to the management center IP, including POS address and related data. The management center can also download real-time lists and other information to the terminal via GPRS, telephone line, or network cable.
4.5 Staff Management
4.6 Notification Management
Can receive notifications from headquarters and send market information about new products and competitors to headquarters.
4.7 Transfer Management
The terminal manages goods transfers between stores and between stores and warehouses based on business needs.
4.8 Multiple Queries
Can query store receipts, sales, orders, returns, warehouse returns, transfers, inventory, member information, etc.
4.9 Print Management
The terminal can connect to an external printer to print current or historical transaction receipts (printer to be provided by customer).
